I wanted to share something I recently did for my health. I have made a conscious decision to prioritize taking care of myself, after many years of focusing on my career and doing things for others. Maybe some of you can relate!
I just turned 57 and I honestly don’t know where time went or how I got to be this age! When I was young, I never thought anything would ever happen to me or my health. I thought we were invincible, yet many people around me are experiencing health scares. I have been noticing gentle signs of ageing and have realized that I have been taking my good health for granted. I made excuses for years – I can’t do cardio, my knees, hips and lower back hurt. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to keep up. Maybe some of you can relate to this dialogue in your head. My new mantra is that we only get one body in our lifetime, so we better take care of it!
I was introduced to rebounding and Fit Boots eight months ago from one of my childhood friends, Jackie. It was a game changer! Rebounding is so easy on my joints. It doesn’t stress my knees or back since the boots absorb the shock.
It has been years since I did any aerobic type classes. I forgot about the adrenalin high! I feel the high of rebounding for hours afterwards.
It’s actually very easy to learn how to rebound. I started off doing low impact until I trusted myself – but it wasn’t long before I was jumping. I feel like a kid again, jumping and laughing, mostly at myself!
This class also has a weightlifting component and exercises on a mat to help build muscle and tone my body. This helps build strength for daily activities and I have noticed such a difference since starting.
Classes with Marcy Lumsden at the Island Rebound Crew are so fun and engaging. Everyone is so supportive, and other participants have become my friends!
I highly recommend you try rebound as a super fun activity to help keep you healthy and strong. I hope my rebounding story of self-care inspires you!
